On the eve of today’s European Council the Party of European Socialists (PES) have issued a very strongly worded declaration entitled; “from Economic Chaos to Economic Governance”. Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, PES President, welcomed the adoption of the text stating that there is a clear distinction between the progressive way for Europe and the current deadlock under Conservative Governments.
He stated that; “it is not Europe that is the problem but rather the Conservative dominance of it. Their obsession with austerity and cuts has left behind the needs of Europe’s people”.
New Leaders Ed Miliband from the UK, and Hakan Juholt, Sweden, contributed to the meeting.
The declaration condemned the last 18 months of wrong decisions by the Conservative majority.
