Migration & Integration

The EU is home to more than 20.2 million extra-EU migrants. In addition, within the EU, around 12.3 million Europeans live outside their country of origin.

In the last years, several episodes have underlined the need to set up a strategy to integrate migrant citizens: the expulsion of Roma communities in France and Italy and more broadly the increased mobility of people globally.

In 2010 the PES created its Network on Migration and Integration. The network is composed by national specialists from PES member parties and external stakeholders; together they debate best practices and shape PES proposals and positions towards a common EU Migration and Integration strategy.
