On this occasion, a new rule has been adopted, establishing a representation of minimum 30% of women in the National Council and Political Bureau of the party. Moreover, the new Ettakatol’s women’s organization has been launched at the Congress, thanks to the hard work and commitment of the women of the party.
Zita Gurmai, PES Women President, stated: “I welcome these progresses, which prove that gender equality and women’s rights are core values of our family. Women represent half of the population, so they should also represent half of the political leaders. In every country, we need more women in decision-making; this is a question of democracy, equality and justice.”
