Join us: Next PES Council in Prague 1-3 December 2016

At the invitation of the Czech Social Democratic Party – CSSD – and its leadership, the PES Council, bringing together 500 leaders, representatives, activists of our member parties, parliamentary group and member organisations from all over Europe will be held from 1-3 December 2016 in Prague. Please write these dates in your calendar!

At the eve of a year with several major elections in EU member states – amongst others in France and in Germany, the European Union is facing many challenges. In particular for the younger generations. The announcement of the The European Youth Plan this summer was the first step forward.

“The Council in Prague should be focused on the young people of Europe. The leaders from the PES family already committed to youth and agreed that a Better Union should be passed on to our children and grandchildren”, PES President Sergei Stanishev said.

During the Council in Prague we will discuss about the future of Europe, of European youth, on how to tackle challenges like unemployment, poverty, inequality, climate change together. Of course with a special eye for the political challenges in Central and Eastern Europe. And last but not least, we will discuss about democracy in Europe in times of growing populism and extremism.

The Council will be preceded by an activists' forum on 1 December, as well as a PES Women council on the same date. On 2 and 3 December a large variety of panels, workshops, artistic and musical performances, a market and other interesting activities will be organised.

Join us in Prague, online registration opens on 15 October.
