PES Congress welcomes Latvian Concord Party as new member

PES newly elected President Sergei Stanishevsaid: “The PES is the only integrated party structure with a solid political base in all EU Member States, with strong coordination with Member Parties and with a dynamic activist network. The European progressive family is gaining more and more momentum ahead of the European elections in 2014. The citizens of Europe are expressing loudly the need for a social democratic alternative to the austerity-only policies of the conservatives. The progressive voice of Europe in Latvia is today stronger thanks to our new member. I look forward to working together with Jānis Urbanovičs for the Europe we need.”
