PES Foreign Affairs Ministers meet to discuss current EU Foreign Policy
On Sunday 15 December, PES Ministers of Foreign Affairs gathered to discuss today’s Foreign Affairs Council meeting. The meeting was led by Jean Asselborn, chair of the PES Foreign Affairs Ministers Network and Foreign Affairs Minister of Luxembourg.
Among the issues discussed were the state of play between the EU and Ukraine, the Middle East Peace Process, the agreement reached with Iran, the Geneva II negotiations on Syria and the precarious situation in Lebanon.
The meeting was attended by Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kristian Vigenin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, BSP, Bulgaria; Erkki Tuomioja, Minister of Foreign Affairs, SDP, Finland; Dimitris Kourkoulas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, PASOK, Greece; Frans Timmermans, Minister of Foreign Affairs, PVDA, the Netherlands; Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign Affairs, SMER, Slovak Republic and PES Deputy Secretary General Yonnec Polet.
