PES Presidency Supports Tanja Fajon for European Commission

The PES Presidency today encouraged the Slovenian Government to nominate Tanja Fajon as the country’s next European Commissioner. The Slovenian Government must send a replacement for the failed Liberal candidate Alenka Bratusek, who was overwhelmingly rejected by the European Parliament.

PES President Sergei Stanishev said, “Tanja Fajon is an excellent candidate. She is experienced and dynamic, and would bring positive energy and a wide range of skills to the European Commission. Tanja has my support and that of the PES Presidency. The Slovenian Government must act quickly so that the new Commission can get to work on reshaping Europe’s economy and launching an important new investment programme to create jobs.”
