07/01/2014 Macedonian SDSM leaders visit PES headquarters in Brussels

SDSM President Zoran Zaev and Deputy President Radmila Sekerinska, also member of PES presidency, came to Brussels on the 7th of January to meet the European Comissioner for Enlargement Stefan Füle. A visit to the PES party headquarters to meet the Deputy Secretary General Yonnec Polet and the Head of International Unit Ann Linde was also on the agenda.

19/12/2013 PES heads of state and Government say EU summit fight is about jobs and real solidarity, not picking off countries one by one

The European Council summit meeting today “should have as its aim objective to create more and better jobs”, said Party of European Socialists’ (PES) President, Sergei Stanishev. He added “instead, we see yet more attempts to dilute the sense of shared economic and social standards and decision-making”.

18/12/2013 Martin mobilises SLD Poland members at convention in Sosnowiec

Martin Schulz, PES Common Candidate designate spoke at the Democratic Left Alliance’s (SLD) convention in Sosnowiec. Together with SLD President and former Prime Minister Leszek Miller, Martin kicked off the SLD campaign for the European elections as they encouraged delegates to be active contributors in the fight for a better Europe in the upcoming months.

16/12/2013 PES meets Prime Minister of Georgia

Today a joint delegation from the PES, S&D Group and the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity met with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garabshvili and Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze in Tblisi. The main topic of the meeting was the result of the EU Vilnius summit on Eastern Partnership, where the EU and Georgia started the final process for an association agreement.

11/12/2013 PES Women denounces the hijacking of the report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights by the Conservatives

Today, the vote in the European Parliament on the draft report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), prepared by Edite Estrela, S&D Portuguese MEP and PES Women executive member, has failed to be adopted and instead an alternative weak resolution put forward by the EPP and ECR was carried.
