The European Ministers from the Party of European Socialists have met in Brussels on 20th September to prepare for the General Affairs Council meeting and to follow up on the outcome of last week’s Bratislava Summit of the EU head of states.
16/09/2016 PES leaders agreed to focus on EU social agenda after Brexit
The leaders of the Party of European Socialists discussed new ways forward for Europe after the Brexit vote and how to bring the EU back on the path of social justice. The meeting of the PES leaders took place in Bratislava ahead of the informal meeting of the 27 heads of state and government of the EU. The PES meeting was hosted by the Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico.

25/08/2016 High Level Progressive Summit in Paris: PES family united in reviving Europe
The leaders of the Party of European Socialists have continued with discussions on the future of the European Union after the ‘leave’ vote in the UK following earlier talks at a PES meeting on 29 June. The meeting took place today and was hosted by the President of France, François Hollande, at the Château de la Celle Saint Cloud, in the outskirts of Paris. At the beginning of the meeting, France’s President delivered a speech on behalf of the PES family in which he called for solidarity with the Italian people after the earthquake in Central Italy.
23/08/2016 High Level Progressive Summit in Paris this Thursday
Prime Ministers, Heads of State and high level European officials from the PES family will meet to discuss future actions. The Party of European Socialists will discuss progressive policies to boost growth and jobs at the European level during a meeting at the Château de la Celle Saint-Cloud, near Paris, on Thursday 25th August 2016.
15/07/2016 Employment Ministers call for a more social Europe after Brexit
Today, Ministers for Employment and Social Affairs from the PES family met in Bratislava to discuss the consequences of the UK referendum in their policy area. The meeting began with a minute of silence in the memory of the victims of the horrible attack in Nice last night. All the ministers condemned this brutal act and called for more cooperation and solidarity in the fight against terror. During the meeting the PES Employment and social affairs ministers adopted a declaration on the clear need for a more social Europe after the Brexit.
07/06/2016 PES Transport Ministers: High time to strengthen the social dimension of Europe’s transport sector
For the first time, the Transport Ministers belonging to the Party of European Socialists (PES) met today in Luxembourg in preparation of the day’s Transport Council session, with focus on the employment and social issues facing Europe’s transport sector, as well as its low-carbon future. Ministers also used this opportunity to identify topics of common concern to take initiatives for more progressive European transport policies.
