19/11/2016 PES: Dangerous Human rights violation in Malaysia
The Party of European Socialists strongly condemns the detention of Howard Lee and other members of the opposition in Malaysia. Lee, who is president of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY), is a representative in the State Legislative Assembly in the country and such an arrest is openly antidemocratic.
17/11/2016 PES Presidency: great result of the European Youth Plan Action Day
The Presidency, the day-to-day leading body of the Party of European Socialists, praised the great result of the Action Day on 16 November to promote the European Youth Plan. Hundreds of activists from all over Europe campaigned for the Youth Plan (www.youthplan.eu) to support young people in finding their career path and with their education, to improve their access to culture and to guarantee minimum living standards for children.

A big pan-European political event took place simultaneously in 30 different European countries on 16 November – the European Youth Plan Action Day.
15/11/2016 The PES acts for Youth with more than 100 events in Europe
The Party of European Socialists will host an all-Europe simultaneous action day tomorrow to promote our European Youth Plan to the citizens of the EU. So far 101 events in 75 cities and 30 European countries confirmed that they will participate in the action day.
15/11/2016 Progressive European Ministers discuss European progressive strategy
The European Ministers from the Party of European Socialists discussed how to push forward a progressive European agenda with concrete measures. The Ministers met in Paris on 14 November, upon invitation of Minister for European Affairs Harlem Désir, and discussed on accelerating economic growth, promoting social cohesion and creating a durable European approach to address the migration challenge.

Nicolas Schmit and Pervenche Berès – respectively chair of the PES EPSCO Ministerial Network and chair of the PES Social Europe Network – pleaded for more funding for the European Youth Guarantee in a joint letter to Commissioner Marianne Thyssen and Vice-President Kristalina Georgieva.

PES President Sergei Stanishev, President of the S&D Group in the European Parliament Gianni Pittella and Laura Slimani, President of the Young European Socialists (YES), have asked for appropriate funding for the European Youth Guarantee for the period 2017-2020, in a letter sent to the European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker.

14/10/2016 PES Council Announced at Presidency Meeting
The Party of European Socialists announced the date of its Council, to be held in Prague on 2 and 3 December this year. "We want the upcoming PES Council to become another platform for discussion among our members, activists and leaders on the future of Europe", said PES President Sergei Stanishev today, during the PES Presidency meeting in Brussels. He underlined that the European Socialist and Democrats already have started a broad discussion on the role of our political family in relaunching Europe after the Brexit.
