PES encourages dialogue among all democratic forces in FYR Macedonia
The Party of European Socialists is concerned about evidence of fraud in the FYR Macedonia elections, and calls for a socialist-led dialogue among all democratic parties to find a better alternative for the country.
PES President Sergei Stanishev said:
"Our associate party, SDSM, achieved a great result, despite the attempts at fraud and rigging the election process. We encourage SDSM to try and build a coalition with all other democratic forces to bring the needed change that FYR Macedonia is longing for."
The PES hopes that all irregularities before and during the election day, including vote buying, violating the secrecy of the vote, and preventing a significant number of citizens from voting due to abrupt and unannounced changes in voting stations will be investigated accordingly.
The PES welcomes the position of SDSM leader Zoran Zaev, who announced that the party is committed to work with coalition partners, as well as other participants in the elections, with the exception of VMRO DPMNE, to form a government that reflects the will of the people of FYR of Macedonia.
