Schulz to visit Croatia for Update on Balkan Flooding Situation
Martin Schulz will be in Croatia on Friday 23 May. Schulz and the Croatian Social Democratic Party have decided to change his election campaign programme to allow for an update on the flooding in Croatia and neighbouring countries.
Schulz will speak with the relief agencies who have been working on the ground. He will hear what additional support is needed and explore ways for the European Union to provide assistance.
Schulz visits a country in a sombre mood which has suspended active political campaigning in order to deal with the urgent disaster it is facing. Nevertheless, he wishes to maintain his long-scheduled visit and demonstrate his solidarity with the Croatian people and their neighbours.
