Corina Creţu named top PSD candidate for European elections in Romania

Creţu has been an MEP since Romania joined the European Union in 2007, and is a PES Presidency Member, where she plays a valuable role in coordinating the Party’s work across Europe.

Speaking after her nomination, Creţu underlined her belief that generating a strong turnout among Socialist voters is the key to electoral success for the PES and PSD: “I see this vote as a responsibility to go through the country and explain what we already accomplished in the EP, what are our projects and how we plan to further represent the interests of citizens in the EP.”

The nomination of the PSD’s candidates coincided with a meeting of 3000 activists in Bucharest, where PES colleagues presented their #knockthevote campaign strategy. The #knockthevote movement is rapidly spreading across Europe and generating passionate grassroots support behind our national parties and our common candidate designate for the Commission Presidency, Martin Schulz.
