PES Council "Saving Europe" - 1-3 December, Prague
Activists from all over Europe are gathering in Prague for the biggest event of the political calendar for social democrats: the Party of European Socialists Council 2016.
Entitled ‘Saving Europe’, the Council is focused on the future of the EU, with special emphasis on the PES ‘Act For Youth’ campaign – fighting to improve prospects for children and young people in Europe.
With keynote addresses by Czech Republic prime minister Bohuslav Sobotka and PES president Sergei Stanishev, the council will also feature Slovakian prime minister Robert Fico, Jeremy Corbyn from the UK Labour party, and the German Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel.
A series of workshops will address hot topics in European politics, from the migration crisis to economic security.
The weekend also includes major events organised by PES Women, Rainbow Rose, and the Young European Socialists – where hundreds of young activists are expected to take part.
