On Saturday 29 March, the Youth Union of the Bulgarian Socialist Party met in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia to elect their new board and to discuss the issues affecting young people across the country. PES Women President Zita Gurmai addressed over 700 delegates from across the country, with a clear focus on youth unemployment and gender equality.

In New York, PES Women builds bridges between local communities and international decision-makers

On Wednesday 19 March at 18.00 in the UN headquarters in New York, PES Women and Vision Films presented the film "The Threshold of the Desert", followed by a debate on women’s empowerment with the participation of representatives from UN Women, UNPD and the civil society.

Today, PES Women from all over Europe gathered for their Annual Conference, entitled ‘PES Women Summit; Power to the Women'.  The meeting was held at the Headquarters of the Partito Democratico in Rome. The main topic of today's panel was combatting the Gender Pay Gap in Europe, to ensure women’s economic empowerment, employment and welfare in the face of the crisis.

After last weeks' Press Conference in Spain, PES Women President Zita Gurmai welcomes the European Commission decision to bring out a statement on 'non-discrimination on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)' but she firmly calls for a European approach of free-choice for all European Women under the motto 'My body, My rights'.

Today, the vote in the European Parliament on the draft report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), prepared by Edite Estrela, S&D Portuguese MEP and PES Women executive member, has failed to be adopted and instead an alternative weak resolution put forward by the EPP and ECR was carried.

Today, the European Parliament plenary rejected the report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), prepared by Edite Estrela, S&D Portuguese MEP and PES Women executive member. It has been sent back to the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM Committee).
