This is the main conclusion of a major PES conference entitled ‘Reinventing the European economy’, at which UN special advisor Jeffrey Sachs was the keynote speaker.

High-level party representatives, ministers, MEPs and members of national parliaments from the PES political family, trade unions and the civil society will discuss how to make globalisation work for everyone in a conference in Brussels on 12 October. Influential academics such as economist Jeffrey Sachs will participate.
10/10/2017 PES Finance Ministers call for an ambitious reform of the EMU and a fair corporate tax for the digital economy
PES Finance Ministers had an exchange of views today on the future of the EMU in the light of President Juncker’s State of the Union address and that of other European leaders. They agreed to continue their discussion in coordination with the PES members of the European Parliament in view of the presentation of the Commission’s proposals on December 6.
