Aujourd’hui, Sergei Stanishev, nouveau président du Parti socialiste européen, a annoncé les noms de sa nouvelle équipe aux membres du Congrès du PSE. S’adressant à une salle comble, composée de délégués internationaux, d’activistes et de dirigeants, M. Stanishev a invité ses collègues à le rejoindre sur scène, en déclarant : « Je suis honoré de diriger cette nouvelle équipe du PSE. Ensemble, cette équipe sera bien meilleure que la somme de ses individualités. Nous avons des idées, nous avons des convictions et ensemble, nous trouverons également la force de les exploiter. Aujourd'hui, plus que jamais, notre famille politique doit s’unir et travailler dur afin de remettre l’Europe sur les bons rails. »

29/09/2012 PES steps up commitment to Arab spring and welcomes Fatah and Ettakatol
The Congress of the Party of European Socialists gave a green light to the membership of two new member parties, Ettakatol of Tunisia and Fatah of Palestine. The move comes at a crucial time in the post-Arab Spring period. It reiterates the commitment of the PES, to North Africa and the Middle East and the calls for hope and dignity and progress.
28/09/2012 PES Congress to ‘set in stone’ plans for common candidate and put Europe on a new track
The Party of the European Socialists (PES) today outlined their plans for their Congress, which takes place in Brussels today and tomorrow (28-29 September). The plans were outlined by Congress Chair Ruairi Quinn (Minister for Education, Ireland) and Philip Cordery (PES General Secretary and Member of the French National Assembly) at a press briefing this morning.
28/09/2012 Sergei Stanishev elected President of the PES
Today, the 9th PES Congress elected Sergei Dmitrievich Stanishev as the President of the Party of European Socialists (PES). Stanishev, fomer Prime Minister of Bulgaria and chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), was elected by 91.3 percent of the votes at the Square Meeting Centre, in Brussels. The announcement of the result took place at the Plenary room and was received with a standing ovation from the audience.

On the fringe of its Brussels Congress, the Party of European Socialists (PES) held a meeting bringing together party leaders from the Balkan region. The gathering, chaired by PES President Sergei Stanishev, took place only a few days ahead of the parliamentary elections in Montenegro and the publication of the European Commission’s Progress Reports.

Call for Green economy jobs for women and better maternity coverage Under the slogan “Combating young women’s unemployment”, PES Women organized today its annual conference at the PS Belgium Headquarters, in Brussels. The aim of the event was to look at the specific causes of young women’s unemployment and discuss solutions such as gender budgeting, equal access to green jobs, and reconciliation of private and professional life. Over a hundred participants attended the conference.
05/09/2012 PES endorses Boris Tadic as ‘the clear choice’ in Serbian Presidential run off
The second round of the Serbian Presidential elections will take place on May 20th between Boris Tadic (Democratic Party) and Tomislav Nikolic (Serbian Progressive Party). The PES believes that Boris Tadic is the obvious candidate to lead Serbia in the coming years.

The Party of European Socialists (PES) Women congratulates Ouafa Hajji (Socialist Union of Popular Forces, Morocco) on her appointment as President of the Socialist International Women (SIW). The election took place on August 27 at the 20th SIW Congress in Cape Town, South Africa. PES Women also sends its warm congratulations to Marije Laffeber(Labour Party, Netherlands), who will be the new Secretary General of the organization.
28/06/2012 PES leaders propose plan for EU summit that 'boosts our economy while strengthening our democracy'
The President of the Party of European Socialists (PES), Sergei Stanishev, has outlined the conclusions of the PES leaders meeting ahead of today's European Council. Mr Stanishev, who was accompanied by the head of the Portuguese Socialist Party, Antonio Jose Seguro, made a strong call for 'concrete progressive' decisions at the EU summit.
