PES Health ministers: Everyone has a right to high quality health care

The meeting of PES health ministers took place in Luxembourg, on the margins of the EPSCO-Health Council meeting, and was chaired by Estonian minister and party leader Jevgeni Ossinovski

Mr.Ossinovski said:

“The Commission’s initiative to consolidate social rights in the EU is a milestone for Europe. We welcome that the principle of equitable access to quality health care as a European value is included among the 20 principles.

We are united in our support for sustainable and affordable healthcare systems that reduce health inequalities and provide best possible health outcomes for our citizens.”

Ministers also discussed the Europe-wide fight against childhood obesity linked to the PES Child Guarantee campaign, and the priorities of the Estonian presidency in the area of health.

Also in attendance was Vytenis Andriukaitis, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety.
